Serena Williamson, Ph.D., is a poet, author, counsellor, teacher, corporate leader and businesswoman who teaches people how to love life. Always a bit of a ham, Serena recently returned to her love of music to write a comical music CD. While brainstorming promotion, cousin Sandi, her former doo-wop singing partner, dared her to create a show. Never one to pass up a dare, Serena wrote a comedy script linking a few of the songs. On hearing a reading, friends and family laughed so hard that the Married to a Jackass Blues show was born.

They say that women over 45 have a greater chance of being hit by a train than finding a man. Maybe they even have a greater chance of flying to the moon. Younger single women struggle too. But there are also women who are happily re-married. Heaven only knows how…why?
After being divorced when her children were young, Serena ran the gamut of single parenting, dealing with her ex-husband’s new wife’s beliefs about parenting (cough), and dating.
All this time Serena was working full time, first as a psychotherapist dealing with people whose relationship or work stress were killing them, literally, then as a corporate psychologist. She’d written six books and delivered seminars internationally. There she was, helping others to live their lives while she was having trouble living her own. When she realized that she, like a lot of other people, took herself entirely too seriously, she decided to have some fun and return to her love of music.
People often write about what’s bugging them, so Serena started ranting and raving and writing songs. But the more she ranted, the funnier it began to sound. When she contacted producers Kate and Hollis Morgan at Constant Sound Studio and played a few songs for them, they laughed so hard they could barely control the machinery. The three of them then created a music video involving donkeys and broken down trucks on country roads. Soon after, it morphed into this show, minus the donkey.
Serena’s still ranting, and she’s still single (maybe the two are connected!) but at least now she’s laughing about it. Come see the show and you’ll laugh too.
